ActivExpression Project
Overview
The ActivExpression project launched in the Khasi Hills in 2013 with the aim of encouraging active learning and student participation in lessons, and reducing teacher workload by helping them to assess their students digitally.
What are ActivExpressions?
Promethean ActivExpressions are battery-powered voting handsets which connect to a computer wirelessly without the need for an internet connection. Teachers can design quizzes for children to work through at their own pace, or send a question to each handset on the spot to quickly gather opinions or measure the understanding of the class. The questions are automatically marked and provide live feedback on how each child is getting on, allowing teachers to target support to those who need it most.
Partner schools
We have now provided ActivExpressions, laptops, and projectors to 15 schools across the Khasi and Jaintia Hills, and are looking to expand! Along with the equipment, we provide training for teachers of any level of computer proficiency, and ongoing support to help them integrate the technology into their daily practice.
